FlutterFlow vs Bubble: mobile first or web first?
FlutterFlow vs Bubble mostly comes down to where your customers will use the product. FlutterFlow starts from phone apps and lets paid plans download the code. Bubble started on the web, now adds native mobile apps, and keeps your app on its platform. Choose FlutterFlow for a phone-first product, and Bubble for a web product you want to build fast.

The search and web question
In FlutterFlow vs Bubble, this one catches people out. Flutter’s own FAQ says Flutter web output “doesn’t align with what search engines need to properly index”, and that it’s “not suitable for static websites with text-rich flow-based content”. It suggests separating your main app from your landing pages and help content, using search-optimised HTML for those.
That’s a fine plan, and it’s what many mobile products do anyway. If you pick FlutterFlow, just budget for a separate marketing site. If you’re web-first and search matters, FlutterFlow probably isn’t your platform. Compare Bubble vs Next.js instead.
FlutterFlow or Bubble?
Choose FlutterFlow if
- Most customers will use a phone
- You want the option to take the code with you
- You have, or expect to hire, a Flutter developer
- You’re happy to run a separate marketing site
Choose Bubble if
- Most customers will use a desktop browser
- You want one platform to host everything
- You’ll mostly build it yourself and don’t plan to touch code
- You accept that leaving means rebuilding
What each one does better
- FlutterFlow: a way outYou can download your code on paid plans and continue with Flutter developers. That’s a real advantage over a closed platform.
- FlutterFlow: built for phonesIt starts from mobile screens, and paid plans include one-click store deployment.
- Bubble: everything in one placeIt includes hosting and a built-in database, and it can serve web and native mobile from one project with shared data.
- Bubble: no code needed at any pointYou can go a long way without learning a programming language. FlutterFlow’s exit is only useful if you have someone who can use Dart.
When to leave each one
Leaving isn’t a failure. It’s often the price of having learned cheaply.
- Leaving FlutterFlowExport the code with its CLI and carry on in Flutter. If you keep using FlutterFlow alongside custom code, its GitHub guide warns that direct edits on its branch get overwritten, so keep custom code on a separate branch. Consider leaving when custom code outweighs what you build visually.
- Leaving BubblePlan a rebuild. Bubble’s manual says you’ll have to rebuild the application logic. Your data can come with you. Consider leaving when usage costs or platform limits start to shape your product decisions.
- Before leaving eitherAsk what problem you’re solving. If customers are happy and costs make sense, stay where you are.
When not to hire us
We build in code, so weigh our view accordingly.
- You’re testing a mobile idea cheaply. FlutterFlow’s or Bubble’s lower tiers cost far less than a custom build.
- You don’t plan to change platform and your app is working well.
- A mobile app is your whole product. Our $4,997 package doesn’t cover it, as a React Native app is scoped separately.
